about ed

Simply put, my name is Ed Garcia and I am a designer and technology consultant. Living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I work with clients from all over the US, Canada and Latin America.

“When you were young”

I was always considered the classic case of “the nerd” & “the kid drawing during class”; so not surprisingly I ended up studying computer science in college. Cliche yes, but a good background in computer science has never hurt a designer.

During college, back in my home country of Puerto Rico, I worked as a computer software instructor for about 4 years. At one point, in order to learn it and teach it, I was introduced to Adobe Photoshop. On its 4th version back then, the software had enough power to spark my desire to work in the graphic design industry and stop drawing during class. Well, not really - I just took classes where I had to draw during them. :)

“The big first step”

In 1998 I moved to Florida to study graphic design. I decided to make the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale the place to graduate with degree in graphic design. Throughout college I started gathering clients; some that I still keep until today. Many of them still see me as the college kid they go to when they have design and technology issues, almost 10 years later. It keeps me young; so I embrace it.

During my career I also worked as an actual employee, from Graphic Designer, Webmaster and Art Director. In 2004 I decided to work full time as a consultant so I started Ed Garcia Computer Services, Inc.

“Thus far and right now”

I work as a web designer and developer with an acute sense for graphic user interface (GUI) design and programming-design logic. In other words, I am a graphic designer that specializes as a “User Interface Analyst”.

As a print media designer, I create advertising pieces like ads, brochures, posters, and just about everything else you can imagine. If you need a project designed or need to fine-tune the usability of your present project, I can help. Feel free to contact me.
